SPRINKLER SYSTEM

The automatic sprinkler system is designed to detect and extinguish a fire at an early stage or to localize the fire without human intervention so that final extinguishing is possible by other means.

The sprinkler system consists of water supply (s) and one or more sprinkler installations; to each  the installation includes its control unit and groups of pipes with sprinkler heads. Sprinklers shall be installed in designated places under the roof or ceiling, if necessary between the shelving frames below the shelves and near the stoves or cookers.

The sprinklers operate at a predetermined temperature and spray water into the area below. Through  the water flowing through the alarm valve causes a fire alarm. The application temperature is usually selected  depending on the ambient temperature conditions, to which a 30C margin is added.

  • Only sprinklers close to the fire, ie those that heat up sufficiently, will work.

  • With very few exceptions, the sprinkler system must cover the entire premises of the building.

  • The existence of a sprinkler system should not lead to the complete exclusion of the need for others  fire-fighting measures, and it is important to assess the fire safety of the site as a whole.
